Choosing the Right Toothpaste: Natural Ingredients, Effective Results, and Personal Preferences

We are often asked what toothpaste do we recommend?

It’s a tricky question to answer. What are we looking for in a toothpaste?

🧪No toxic chemicals
😀Makes your mouth feel clean
🧽 Removes stains
🪬Doesn’t damage your teeth/mouth and be great if it protects them

Check the ingredients and AVOID toothpastes with:
❌Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
❌Microbeads, Triclosan or Titanium dioxide

❌We have stopped recommending Fluoride containing toothpastes. We know it reduces decay when the diet is managed, however it is not a naturally occurring chemical in the body, can cause fluorosis or be toxic in larger doses and now we have better more natural chemicals.

✔️Hydroxyapatite (HA) has been shown to be as effective as Fluoride in protecting teeth. It is naturally occurring in our teeth and bones, its bioavailable, has no side effects and has been tested in toothpastes for over 40 years!

Our current favourite is RiseWell we receive no payments from them. I just love the taste and the company ethos.

You can even try DRY brushing with just water. This is great for people who have a healthy diet with not mainly staining containing foods and want to save money! If you do get a bit of staining you could dip your dry into baking soda for a natural homemade toothpaste.

For children: it depends on their age and what flavours they like. If over 6 years of age and like mint then we use the same Risewell as with adults. They also do a “cake batter” flavour for kids which we find a bit sickly!

Fygg sells a chocolate and a vanilla flavoured kids toothpaste.
